We are still on course to get our hands on Android in the 4th Quarter of this year.  There have been rumours that it will be delayed until 2009 but to be completely honest there seems to be a fair bit of silence, so we can just assume that it is still on course for the end of this year.

One thing that there seems to be no silence about is the fact that developers aren’t getting enough support from Google.  It seems that Google might need to keep touch with all those developers who need help with coding issues.

It’s one thing making a platform open source but then you need to have the support to keep that platform going.  Google has the resources to offer the support, it’s not like they are a struggling startup but if they are not careful, another open source platform will become the market leader because it will be easier to develop for.

Google Android Nearly Here

June 15th, 2008

The wait looks to be almost over for those waiting for the new Android phones.  We have been told it will be in the second half of 2008 that the new platform will be released.

Rumours say it could be as early as July, whilst the official line is that it won’t be until later on in the year.  Whatever the story, Android now has to compete with the iPhone 3G which is going to be a big hit.

Here in the UK the phone will be as low as £100 which is an incredible price.  Android looks like it is going to be something special but if it doesn’t get to the market quick enough people are going to be fed up waiting and just opt for the new iPhone.

Now is a crucial time in the mobile market, the decisions that are being made now may effect how well a phone or platform does in the future.
